WHAT IS LITE-PC

Lite PC is a cross platform solution for server based computing. Any Pentium (or equivalent) based PC with a 1MB video card & compatible network card can be used as a client and can be connected to a windows 2000 Terminal Server (or NT 4.0 TSE) and red hat Linux Server.

With Lite PC, you can use your existing desktop systems as Thin Client Terminals. You will save money, reducing support and hardware costs, while providing access anytime anywhere to your company’s applications. No more upgrading your desktop system every couple of years.

THIN CLIENT IN A NUTSHELL

Thin Client terminals are VGA displays that have a CPU Unit, monitor, keyboard and mouse. They do not typically have a hard drive instead they have a ROM memory chip having compatible protocols for communicating to your Terminal Server(s)

Thin Client technology/computing enables any computer to access server (Microsoft windows, Linux) based applications, like word processors, spread sheets, capital Accounting programs, ETC… over the network, without having to install the application on every desktop system.

In Thin Client computing, applications are installed and live on a central server or group of servers and not on clients. All application processing is performed on the server and not on the client system. This means that only the screen, keyboard and mouse information are passed to the client desktop system. As if you are remote controlling a Windows session on the server.

Hardware:. Intel Pentium 100 MHz and above, 32MB RAM, Compatible SVGA Card and monitor, Realtek 8139C or Compatible network card with Supported Boot ROM.Microsoft /Logitech compatible Serial/PS2 Mouse, US (standard) keyboard.

Server

Operating System:. Microsoft Windows NT (Terminal Server Edition), Microsoft Windows 2000(Terminal Server mode), Red Hat Linux8.

Hardware:. As required by deployed server operating system, Compatible network cards and 12-MB additional RAM per client.
